Most people stay away from getting married around Christmas, thinking everyone will be busy with family and friends and a lot of people may be out of town. Well if you get those save-the-dates out soon enough and you are a Christmas loving person, there is no reason why you cannot have that December wedding and even save yourself a little money!
Christmas! What a great idea for a theme and can even cut a little from your budget. Like Plaza Lecea, most venues decorate for Christmas, adding beautiful Christmas trees, poinsettia’s, and even some wreaths and mistletoes. This is great for that Christmas bride because you get some gorgeous décor in the theme of your choice that is already set up, just like it was especially for you. You can even go into a little more detail and instead of just a Christmas theme you could choose a theme such as, “Candy Cane Land”, “Santa Baby” or even “Winter Wonderland”. A great time to buy most of your décor would be the year before right after Christmas. All decorations will be going on sale and that is way to stock up on favors like ornaments or get some snow confetti for your tables or anything that is Christmas. That is a way to save tons on the budget and you do not have to get things last minute, you are a year ahead!
Now when people think Christmas your mind automatically goes to those red and green colors. Which are the main colors of the holidays, but there are many other colors and ways to do Christmas. If you are that modern Christmas bride think blues, golds, silvers, and even purples. Now if you are a bling bride, go with silver and stick to sparkle and shimmer and this way you can have any accent color of your choice. With Christmas there are so many options and ways to really get into a lot of detail. You could do things like give each table a Christmas name like Santa, snowman, jingle bells or you could use reindeer names, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, etc. Make some stockings with colors and small toys for all the kids and this is a great way to keep them happy and busy throughout the evening. You can even go into detail with the food choice and do a traditions roast turkey with all the trimmings for dinner. For drinks, champagne and punch are always great but you could add just more of that Christmas element and have some eggnog. Kahlua makes a great seasonal beverage that goes great in eggnog or cream.
Now as for those flowers. As said earlier most venues will have added flowers such as poinsettias so get with your florist and go over the seasonal flowers ahead of time and make sure you get your order in because around the holidays it can get very busy. And keep in mind poinsettias come in not only red but cream and pink too! If you don’t want to do flowers for the centerpiece some great options would be some clear vases with ornaments inside or even a bare branch tree and hang some mini ornaments, candy canes or anything you want. These can both give you that modern chic and add a special touch to the room.
So remember, anything Christmas goes! For that grand exit you can even add sparklers which go great with Christmas and will leave your guest ohing and awing! So going a little out of the box can only make things better. Have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and a fabulous wedding!
